Conspirare :: Craig Hella Johnson and Company of Voices
Christmas at the CarillonWednesday, December 5, 2007, 7:30pm
First United Methodist Church
A beloved holiday tradition! Since 1994, Craig Hella Johnson has created a unique program of sacred and secular holiday music, art music and popular music, concert hall performance, and community sing.
This innovative and provocative concert series has inspired countless listeners and sparked conversations long after the last note has sounded. Artistic Director Craig Hella Johnson seamlessly interweaves hymns, carols, and popular songs into a moving, unforgettable concert experience.
The 2007 performance features the return of Guest Artist Cynthia Clawson. This vibrant vocalist was named "the most awesome voice in gospel music" by Billboard Magazine and has received a Grammy® and five Dove Awards for her work.
Ms. Clawson was three years old when her father first asked her to sing in the small church he pastored, and Cynthia has not stopped since--from local neighborhood churches to London's Wembley Stadium. Throughout her career, Cynthia has continued to push beyond the boundaries of traditional gospel music, and has reached millions of people throughout the world with her music.

Their 2006 CD release, Requiem, was nominated for two Grammy® awards.
"The chorus was absolutely top-drawer, singing with machine-tooled precision, crystalline tonal purity, and amazing stylistic range..." ~Mike Greenberg, San Antonio Express-News
